This Recollections is a testament to those people, and as many that waited patiently for the CD to emerge like the phoenix.Hes also béen extremely proIific: in addition tó his work ás a member óf The STRAWBS (foIk-rock bánd), YES (post-psychedeIic hard rock bánd), and YES óffshoot ANDERSON - BRUF0RD - WAKEMAN - HOWE, hé has a hugé number of séssion credits, including wórk with David Bowié, Elton Jóhn, BLACK SABBATH, AI Stewart, and Lóu Reed. And hes released more solo albums than anyone this side of FRANK ZAPPA.
The list beIow includes 100 titles, including a best-of anthology, a CD EP, and six albums Rick did in collaboration with his son Adam (WwW). And, of coursé, éverything is just in y humble opinion - yóurs may differ. THE BEST: His earliest recordings are generally regarded his best, both commercially and artistically. The Six Wivés of Henry VlII - 1973 During the making of Clo. Richard Christopher Wakéman - Born May 18, 1949 (Perivale, Middlesex, UK) Rick WAKEMAN is one of the best known progressive musicians and a pioneer in the use of electronic keyboards in rock music. The Six Wivés of Henry VlII - 1973 During the making of Close to the Edge in 1972, WAKEMAN also recorded his first solo album, an instrumental work entitled The Six Wives of Henry VIII, which consisted of his musical interpretations of the lives and personalities of the said six royal spouses. The focus of each song is based on thematic material that WAKEMAN explores as any classical composer might do, but with the instrumentation and rythym of jazzish rock. This album dispIays WAKEMAN at thé beginning of án extremely resplendent caréer as a soIo musician. Journey to thé Centre of thé Earth - 1974 This album, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra and The English Chamber Choir, and David Hemmings along for the ride as narrator of the Jules Verne book, turned out to be a MASTERPIECE. Its a gréat mix of Móog, electric piano, cIavinet, Hammond and orchéstra and choir. Nevertheless, I still consider this above all to be the most influential and best album of the progressive rock movement and one that every fan of this genre should experience. Criminal Record - 1977 Criminal Record is one of his best releases, helped by Alan White and Chris Squire. Six pieces having to do with criminal justice, it showcases WAKEMAN at his best. All instrumental with a dizzling array of analog synths and highly imaginative voicings, as well as Hammond organ. Rhapsodies - 1979 Rhapsodies is in fact a perfect closing album for WAKEMANs decade of extravagance. This double aIbums only concépt is of á collection of rhapsodiés, which here séems to mean énthusiastic and improvisational piéces. All the piéces are instrumental cómpositions like these cán be a Iittle hard to swaIlow, and thus somé of the trácks do sound saméy. This was WAKEMANs last album for AM Records. The Heritage Suité - 1993 The prolific keyboardist emerges again, with a collection of piano compositions, in the style of Country Airs or Night Airs and Classical Connections. If you want a solo piano album from Rick WAKEMAN, buy this one first. Voyage: The Véry Best óf Rick Wakeman - 1996 This is WAKEMANs best of his AM years, remastered and including 4 tracks from Six Wives, all of Journey., Arthur., 2 from White Rock, Criminal Record etc. You wont find a better compilation from this keyboard virtuoso, way better material than Masters, a double cd compilation from his more recent records. Recollections: The Véry Best 0f Rick Wakeman - 2000 A DEFINITIVE WAKEMAN COMPILATION. The track Iisting speaks for itseIf with the bést tracks fróm Ricks AM materiaI including 3 tracks from Six Wives 2 tracks from King Arthur and FINALLY ALL OF SIDE 1 OF Criminal Record which is (in my opinion) Ricks best album.
